Visit of the Kingston container terminal site by the Prime Minister of Jamaica

On May 19, the Prime Minister of Jamaica – The Most. Honourable Andrew Holness visited Kingston Container Terminal operated by Kingston Freeport Terminal Limited (fully owned subsidiary of CMA CGM Group), including the first phase of the Infrastructures Expansion Works, under management of Egis.

The delegation included also Hon Minister Horace Chang - Minister without Portfolio (In charge of Infrastructures), the Ambassador Dr Nigel Clarke – Chairman of the Port Authority, Professor Gordon Shirley – President & CEO of the Port Authority and his Excellency Jean-Michel Despax – Ambassador of France to Jamaica.

Egis is the Employer’s Representative for the Infrastructures Work including:

  • Refurbishment of 1,218m berth on Southern Quays to accommodate 14,400 TEU vessels with 14.7m vessel draft. The refurbished berth has future capacity to accommodate vessels up to 15.5m draft.
  • Dredging Works: deepening, realignment of the nautical accesses, as well as upgrade of navigation aids, to accommodate 14,400 TEU vessels with 14.7m vessel draft
  • Yard’s pavement rehabilitation
