Egis provides project management for Abidjan "Aerocity", a city within the Airport, and a showcase for the development of the Ivory Coast.
Abidjan International Airport has been managed as a concession since 1996 by Aéria, a subsidiary of Egis. To increase passenger traffic at the airport and to create a new economic hub (hotels, shops, exhibition centres, etc.), the Ivory Coast government has asked Egis to create a «2 in 1» project: to develop and manage an airport city within the scope of the concession.
To create this showcase for the Ivory Coast, which will boost the appeal of the airport, Egis has developed a project for a sustainable multi functional city, a combination of hotels, commerce, service activities and housing.
The « Aérocité » is located in an exceptional natural environment between ocean and lagoon. Egis is performing innovative engineering work particularly respectful of the natural environment by providing alternative management technologies , in terms of sanitation, water management and energy efficiency of buildings.
Egis is responsible for conducting the technical and economic feasibility studies and providing urban project management of the future «aerocity» which will cover 450 hectares. A first phase of around 80 hectares is set to launch in 2013.
