Project overview

Egis is responsible for operating street parking services in the city of Amsterdam in the Netherlands, which are among the world’s most advanced.

Amsterdam’s street parking enforcement system is today considered to be one of the world’s most advanced. Cars fitted with cameras scan the number plates of parked vehicles and send the data to an automated back office processing system. Parking fees are then cross checked directly with the operator in cooperation with the local authorities (police and city’s finance department). This system substantially reduces the presence of officers on the street.

Under the terms of this 4-year contract, with a discretionary 4-year (2 x 2 years) extension, Egis is responsible for managing approximately 150,000 parking spaces, 180,000 digital resident parking permits and 2,400 parking meters.

Our missions

Egis is tasked with developing and operating the city’s on-street parking services.

"Our Group contributes a fresh new outsider’s perspective on parking issues in Amsterdam, with a global service range designed to be both innovative and attractive. Our goal is to deliver the highest possible street parking payment rate. To reach it, we are aiming to achieve better rotation of residents’ vehicles and increased street parking charge compliance." – Rik Joosten, CEO of Egis Projects.
