Rail transport › Freight rail

Via Egis Engenharia e Consultoria, its Brazilian subsidiary specialising in heavy freight rail projects, Egis is expanding its presence in the global market.

A major project for Egis is the doubling of the Carajas railway: around 900 km of track used by trains carrying iron ore from Brazil's Carajas mines. The trains are among the world's longest (3,500 m) and heaviest (53,000 tonnes). Egis also supervises construction work on new rail lines, for example the north-south line which, when completed, will be almost 2,000 km long.
