Egis, pioneers and still at the cutting edge internationally

Egis' expertise in managing major metro projects (conventional or driverless) is recognised by clients throughout the world. Egis is currently piloting numerous extensions to urban networks and is continuing to develop projects in France and internationally.

Egis is a pioneer in multiple fields: design of underground structures, use of a bentonite shield TBM for the first time in France, new track laying techniques and numerous automation and modernisation assignments for existing metros.

Founder of the original metro systems in the French cities of Lyon and Marseille, in the 1970s, Egis has remained involved in their development over the years. As of 2007 creation of complete metro systems have been given strong impetus in France and elsewhere around the world.

Extension of Lyon's Line B, doubling of the capacity of Line 1 in Lille, building of metro systems in Rennes - France, and in Chennai - India, in Macao - China and in Doha - Qatar, as well as initial studies for the Greater Paris metro, are clear evidence of the growth in this sector.
Egis' expertise in underground works, whether tunnel boring, conventional excavation or covered trenching, in urban or other sites, enables us to offer a distinctive range of services.
