Egis, a 100%-owned Caisse des Dépôts subsidiary, is an engineering and consulting group active in infrastructure engineering and transport systems, regional and urban development, water and the environment. It also has expertise in project management and operation of roads and airports.
At end 2009, Egis established a strategic alliance with Iosis, a French leader in construction engineering and industrial civil engineering, to offer their French and international clients a new global engineering platform addressing the challenges of sustainable construction. This alliance creates France's leading engineering group specializing in infrastructure, sustainable urban and regional development and construction. The new entity will have a strong base of 9,500 employees, including 6,000 engineers, and generated a turnover in excess of €724m in 2009 (40% outside France).

With its 8,370 employees (5220 in Engineering division), Egis's turnover is growing fast --- it stood at €563m in 2009 (versus €505m in 2008). Net profit came to €19.5m.
Egis has an ambitious growth and profitability targets: it aims to double its turnover between 2007 and 2012, bolster profitability, increase its activity outside France and launch a strong recruitment drive. It is also pursuing plans for growth by acquisition. Apart from the alliance with Iosis, Sintra, a company specializing in rail signaling, and two Polish companies, CGM Projekt and Biprogeo Projekt, specializing in design of infrastructure and urban roads, joined Egis in 2009.
