During the 18th EPA (European Parking Association) Congress in Rotterdam on September 20, 2017, Egis has been honored with innovation On-street Category Award for their innovation in digital enforcement for smart parking operations.
Egis Parking Services is operating the smart on-street parking enforcement of the city of Amsterdam concerning 150,000 places since January 2016. The enforcement is 100% license plate based and performed by ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition) equipped on cars driving around the city.
Using of Egis global experience in Image review for road free-flow tolling operations, Egis Parking Services has recently introduced this practice in Amsterdam smart parking enforcement project with parking agents analyzing images remotely and performing a parking tax assessment. The agents can determine for each potential offense whether to accept, reject or perform on-site verification of a potential tax assessment. This mechanism allows Egis Parking Services to handle 80% of the enforcement cases remotely and reduce considerably the agent presence on the streets.
This innovative process brings benefits to both operators and municipalities such as an increase in control performance, enhanced agents safety and working schedules and a more transparent enforcement process which now allows for a 4 eyes principle.
With this award, Egis becomes a recognized actor on a the business of managing on-street parking in cities in Europe.
