Egis expands its airport operations presence in France

Having won the public service contracts for Pau Pyrénées airport and Brest and Quimper airports in 2017, Egis continues to position itself as the partner for airport operation and development in France by winning the contract for Bergerac airport.

Bergerac airport, a tourist gateway to the Dordogne

At its Board meeting of 17 October, the members of the Syndicat Mixte Air Dordogne (SMAD) approved a resolution to award the operation and management of Bergerac Dordogne Périgord Airport to the business grouping composed of Dordogne Chamber of Commerce and Industry (55%) and Egis (45%).

In April 2013, the management and operation of the airport was delegated to the Société d'Exploitation de l'Aéroport de Bergerac Dordogne Périgord (SABDP), a fully owned subsidiary of the Dordogne Chamber of Commerce. Starting in early 2020 and for a period of 12 years, the operation and management of the airport will be entrusted to Egis in a consortium with the Dordogne Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

With a majority of international passengers (mainly from Great Britain), Bergerac airport is positioned as a real gateway to the Dordogne, and more widely to the Aquitaine region. It is the fourth largest airport in Aquitaine in terms of passenger traffic and is one of the three so-called "regional" airports in Aquitaine alongside Biarritz Pays Basque and Pau Pyrénées airports.

Since the early 2000s, the airport has been handling traffic mainly operated by low-cost airlines, including Ryanair, Transavia and Flybe. Today, 15 scheduled routes (13 of them international) serve Bergerac airport carrying around 250,000 to 300,000 passengers per year. Within this concession, strong traffic development ambitions will help to boost the airport and its region.
