Within the frame of a large rehabilitation project of Saudi airport terminals with a capacity below 1 million passengers per year, Egis together with its subsidiary Projacs have received representatives of the management of the General Authority of Civil Aviation of Saudi Arabia.
Under a contract with GACA, Egis will design a terminal prototype and supervise the construction of a dozen terminals in Saudi Arabia. For this project, Egis has organised meetings and visits with our teams at our headquarters in Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines but also with operational and management teams of Brest and Pau airports, with Egis now being involved in both airports’ operation and management.
During this visit, the Saudi delegation has had the opportunity to fully assess the engineering and operation know-how of the Egis Group. Through meetings with representatives of the Egis airport network, the delegation has also been able to discuss concrete challenges in airport operation. With our architects and specialised engineers, our Saudi customers have also shared valuable inputs to prepare the ground for the definition of a new generation terminal adapted to their local context.
GACA is having high expectations for the production of the airport terminal prototype. Our customer is looking to have a futuristic and attractive design which accommodates future needs for the next 15 to 20 years, while concentrating the latest technologies, especially in terms of passenger processing. Our teams are expected to deliver a concept design within a month time, while all terminals should be built and achieved by end 2020.
