The US Government foreign aid agency Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) has selected the consortium formed by Egis (lead contractor) and CPCS Transcom Limited (Canada) to conduct design studies for the refurbishment of 24 km of urban expressways in the Greater Abidjan area.
The aim of this Abidjan Transport Project (ATP) is to reduce operating costs of road traffic, shorten travel times along the main arteries of the city region and alleviate congestion in the port zone where road and maritime freight is growing considerably.
The design studies assignment consists of conducting preliminary studies and producing preliminary designs, detailed designs and the contractor tender documentation.
On the transport aspect, Egis is responsible for the collection of traffic data, modelling-related design work, the temporary (during works) and final traffic management plans, road signalling with road safety equipment and studies for pre-feasibility scenarios offering railway infrastructure.
Egis is also contributing to the design of urban sections (cross profiles, roadway geometry and landscaping works).
The Egis teams are also in charge of conducting social and environmental, geotechnical, engineering structure and hydraulic studies.
