Modernisation of the Trolleybus network in Lviv, Ukraine

On 21st May 2018, a kick-off meeting for the launch of the Lviv Trolleybus sub-project of the Ukraine Public Transport Framework was held in the premises of the Client, municipal company Lvivelectrotrans.

Project overview

Lviv is known to be a well-developed touristic centre and the densest and the most dynamic IT-hub of Ukraine.  Moreover, during the last 10 years, the City has been actively partnering with the European Fi-nancial Institutions for the rehabilitation of its transport and utilities infrastructure.

Following the EBRD and EIB-funded Ukraine Public Transport Framework, the municipal Company will be able to purchase 50 new trolleybuses and 100 new buses, and also improve the trolleybus infra-structure and launch new routes.

Our missions

Further to its considerable experience in Due diligence for investment projects, Egis has been awarded to act as the Consultant on the Trolleybus Modernisation Project. The main objectives for Egis experts are as follows:

  • general analysis of municipal transport system and legal data-base
  • analysis of potential and fares established by municipal and private carriers.

Following this information, the Egis is expected to prepare qualification requirements and all other relevant documents for fur-ther bidding and procurement procedures. In addition, the Egis in cooperation with the Bank are to assess the financial capability of the Client to conduct a profitable operational activity and to develop a 13-years’ long business plan in order to ensure loan reimbursement.

Egis has been participating in three alternating projects associated with due diligence for municipal public transport in Ukraine. The first two projects, in Kharkiv and Kryvyi Rih, are at the completion stage. This successful experience will further enable the company to add due diligence services to its consulting portfolio in different infrastructure sectors and expand activities in other regions of Ukraine.
