New multipurpose port terminal in Owendo, Gabon

On October 14, Owendo’s new multipurpose terminal (New Owendo International Port) was inaugurated.

Owendo (Libreville)
Duration: April 2016 - October 2017
Client: Gabon Special Economic Zone
Durée des travaux : 18 mois

Project overview

The State authority and Olam (Singapore) have joined forces to develop and operate the terminal, which has a capacity of 150,000 containers per year. This number exceeds the present yearly annual traffic of Gabon (approximately 130,000 containers). The result will certainly be a reduction of the port charges by around 25 % which should normally lead to an increase of the purchasing power of Gabonese people.

The terminal’s installations have been built in 18 months on a very congested site of 18 hectares.
