Simplifying the complex.
Meridian Water is a major £6bn, 25-year, ground-breaking project led by the London Borough of Enfield (LBE) to transform a swath of brownfield land adjacent to the beautiful Lee Valley Regional Park into a new, vibrant and attractive area of the borough.
The project includes the building of a new landmark rail station at Meridian Water (Phase 1), the radical redesign of the existing rail infrastructure to support a “6 trains Per Hour” increased rail traffic through the station (Phase 2) and the development of disused brownfield land to allow for the construction of 10,000 new homes and the creation of 6,000 new jobs (Phase 3).
From 2015 to 2017, Egis worked with LBE and Network Rail to provide early contractor involvement and project management for the building of the new landmark station, which was unveiled in 2017.
In 2018, LBE decided to “self-deliver” Phase 2 and appointed Egis to support the procurement of the most complex phase of the project, including:
- securing necessary funding from government
- developing new rail infrastructure that would support increased train capacity without disrupting existing operations
- identifying timetable solutions that balanced the conflicting interests of key stakeholders
- securing all necessary technical, safety, governance and compliance approvals.
