Simplifying the complex.
Digital transformation was required for Network Rail (NR) to achieve its infrastructure maintenance modernisation objectives, including:
- improving infrastructure reliability and optimising asset performance at a time when passenger and freight traffic was increasing
- reducing infrastructure maintenance costs through the prediction and prevention of infrastructure failures
- enhancing safety by enabling targeted interventions on the rail network, thus reducing the need to deploy staff on site.
Network Rail’s challenge was to design and implement an intelligent and predictive solution that would accurately gather and process live infrastructure data and transform it into easily accessible insights that can be used to predict infrastructure failures.
Egis were a key partner supporting the delivery of this complex programme, providing subject matter expertise across a wide range of disciplines such as programme and project management, procurement, commercial, benefits mapping realisation services and engineering.
Utilising its deep industry understanding, engineering expertise and Digital Project Delivery teams, Egis led the Electrification & Plant (E&P) Workstream, taking responsibility for the project’s delivery from concept through to roll-out.
