Delivering critical works at four key sites.
As part of its East Anglia franchise rail franchise commitments, Abellio Greater Anglia (AGA) commissioned a new fleet with three types rolling stock units (111 Bombardier Class 720, 20 Stadler Class 745 and 38 Class 745) to be delivered from October 2018 for operation from May 2019.
Neither the Anglia network nor existing AGA depots had capacity to stable these new trains, so AGA put in place the New East Anglia Trains (NEAT) programme.
The NEAT programme included the carrying out of critical works at four sites:
- Norwich Victoria: the re-commissioning of four disused Rail sidings to allow the stabling of the new rolling stock and the construction of a new accommodation block for staff
- Norwich Crown Point: the re-conditioning of the Wensum Curve through siding to allow both key access to the Depot and a connection to disused “triangle sidings”
- Marks Tey and Sudbury: the re-location of speed and driver warning board to allow for driver visuals and safe departure for the new rolling stock from these stations
- Wickford station: the redevelopment of the station, including a 17m extension of the platform to accommodate the new trains lengths.
AGA contracted CPMS to deliver these specialist multi-disciplinary packages of works and to support the necessary approvals process with Network Rail.
