The Boulevard Urbain Est (BUE) is an urban road project that aims to improve traffic flow around the towns of Vichy and Cusset. The street consists of two lanes and includes mixed-use areas for pedestrians/cyclists as well as green spaces. This is the culmination of a longstanding project: first featured in the urban development master plan of 1973, it was officially declared to be of public utility on 17 April 2012. The urban area of Vichy Val Allier took into account planning requirements by directing the route through a more open space, and strengthening the structure of the road network in the heart of the conurbation.
