Egis awarded next stage of Belgrade metro development

The Republic of Serbia and the City of Belgrade are planning to build a Metro system in Belgrade as one of the development priorities of urban and suburban public transport. The Metro system will become the basis of public transport and play a key role in successful spatial development of Belgrade.

To support our client, BMV, we have previously completed earlier studies including the preliminary design for Line 1, have now been commissioned to undertake the next stage of design development comprising the preliminary designs for Line 1 Phase 2 and Line 2.

The contracts for both studies were signed in Belgrade at the beginning of the month and we will provide preliminary designs, environment and social impact assessment, technical specifications and a feasibility report over a 25 month period.

The scope of Lines 1 and 2, both of which are predominantly underground :

  • Line 1, North to South: from Železnik to Mirijevo, with a total length of 21.3 kilometers with 23 Stations
  • Line 2, East to West: from Bezanija to Mirijevo, with a total length of 19.2 kilometers, with 23 Stations.
