Areva katco mines the uranium deposits in Kazakhstan

With a low uranium content these deposits require in situ recovery.
Client: KATCO

Project overview

The initial mining target was 1,500 metric tonnes per year, this has rapidly increased. In 2009, KATCO obtained permission from the Kazakh authorities to increase production to 4,000 tonnes per year from 2012.

An ambitious goal that requires a vast programme of infrastructure adjustment including solutions to mitigate the risk of pipe breakage.

Our missions

Egis is working on improvement of the hydraulic design and the operation of transfer lines, before they are replaced.
After conducting studies to identify the technical and operational problems and to propose the most suitable action plan, Egis supervised the resulting work in compliance with a demanding schedule.
