New Arts et Métiers Bridge in Angers

A light rail bridge that required an exceptional set of resources, techniques and materials!

Project overview

On Saturday 28 June 2019, the new Arts-et-Métiers bridge was opened to pedestrians and cyclists.

The architecture contest’s winning team, comprising Egis and Lavigne Chéron Architectes, designed and supervised the construction of this new bridge.

The consortium designed an elegant and unobtrusive structure. This tasteful bridge strikes a harmony with the most iconic monuments in the city of Angers.

Our missions

To accomplish this large-scale project, Egis drew on its expertise in non-standard engineering structures, rail and geotechnical engineering.

The new bridge is part of the plans for a new light rail line (line B), also designed and engineered by Egis. However, light rail passengers will have to wait until 2022 to see lines B and C of the light rail network using this bridge.
