To fulfil its objectives of strong growth in the Middle East, Egis has appointed Alaa Abu Siam as Chief Executive Officer of its Middle East Business Unit.
Alaa Abu Siam had been Egis’ Chief Operating Officer in the Middle East for more than a year where he demonstrated his outstanding capabilities in the fields of project implementation and delivery. He took up the position of Chief Executive Officer of the Middle East Business Unit in January.

With 1.200 employees in the region, Egis has been established in the Middle East for many years, with outstanding growth potential. Over the period from 2014 to 2019, the Group’s proportion of turnover generated in the Middle East rose from 4 % to 14 % following the awards of major projects in Rail such Riyadh metro and Doha metro, and the acquisition of Projacs, a leading project management firm in the Middle East.
More specifically, Saudi Arabia has grown to become the largest country for the Group in terms of international business. Egis recorded its highest 2020 order intake in the country, and three of the Group's main projects are located in the Kingdom, The Riyadh metro, the Green Riyadh PMO project (one of the largest urban greening projects in the world) and the project for Riyadh Airport PMC.
Egis is also working on several emblematic projects across the region, such as the Etihad Rail project in the United Arab Emirates, water desalination plants in Oman, the rehabilitation of the Al Karaana lagoons in Qatar, and the design of Bahrain metro.
Alaa Abu Siam has more than 20 years’ experience in engineering, growth management, business transformation and new sales development in fast-growing international environments. He has occupied positions of increasing seniority in the Middle East, Sub-Saharan Africa, the United States and Latin America.
He is graduate of Al-Balqa’ Applied University in Jordan, where he received a degree in engineering technology in 2001, holds an executive accelerated development qualification from Rice University and is a certificated project management professional (PMP®).
