Egis and Mitsubishi Corporation sign two agreements for the development of joint projects in Africa

In conjunction with the Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD VI) held in Nairobi on August 27th-28th, Egis and Mitsubishi Corporation signed two agreements for the development of joint projects in Africa. Ceremonies were held on August 26th, as part of an event jointly organized by France and Japan and dedicated to French - Japanese initiatives on the African continent.

The first agreement covers the entire continent and the areas of sustainable city, road, water, energy and construction. The second agreement, signed by Egis, covers the area of development of water in Côte d'Ivoire.

During the conference, Kenya, France and Japan organized a joint event on 26 August dedicated to their common efforts in Africa. France was represented by Mr André Vallini, Minister of State for Development and Francophonie and Japan by Mr Shunsuke Takei, Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs. Other participants included numerous members of African governments and representatives of several companies (Total, Bouygues, Vinci, Bolloré, Egis, Clemessy, Mitsubishi Corporation, Toyota Tsusho, Fujifilm), the Agence française de développement (AFD, French Development Agency), and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

This joint event was an opportunity to assess progress on the implementation of the “FrancoJapanese plan for sustainable development, health and security in Africa” (Franco-Japanese plan for Africa) launched by Prime Ministers Manuel Valls and Shinzo Abe in October 2015.
