This project is part of Euroclimat+, a European Union program to support Latin American countries, whose management of the urban mobility branch has been entrusted to the AFD.

Arequipa, Peru's second largest city by size and population (920,000 inhabitants), has for several years been experiencing chaotic urban development due to a fragmented geography and a lack of planning.

Mobility is one of its main problems, with a lack of an overall vision of sustainable mobility at the city level, a complex urban transportation organization, and an old, unsafe, saturated system.

Egis is tasked with drawing up a clear and sustainable mobility plan for the next 20 years and strengthening the institutional capacities of the relevant authorities in terms of mobility and planning.

This plan will be drawn up according to the European SUMP (Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan) methodological rules, which involve strong citizen participation as well as that of the economic and academic sectors throughout the plan development process.

This is the first contract won by Egis within the framework of the AFD framework contract relating to the mobility and urban and peri-urban transport sector.
