Egis, as design & build programme manager for the redevelopment of the “Rond-point des Lavandes”, together with its partners Bouygues Travaux publics France region, Colas (contractors) and EGCEM (civil engineering works design consultancy), have received the 2019 BIM d’Argent in the infrastructure category for the BIM process that they implemented on this project.
Under plans to improve road access to Marseille Provence Airport (AMP), the airport management firm AMP wished, on the one hand, to facilitate access to the terminal facilities and, on the other, to cater to the future increase in road traffic (10 million passengers expected by 2020) arriving at the airport via the Les Lavandes roundabout.
To fulfil these requirements, AMP wishes to redevelop the Rond-point de Lavandes by making the roundabout itself larger and building a one-way tunnel running from the MP2 terminal and freight zone towards the Marseille Provence Airport exit. This new infrastructure is sized to accommodate all types of vehicles (including heavy goods vehicles, buses and fire emergency vehicles).
Under the coordination of Egis, whose roles included BIM Management in design phase, a BIM Execution Plan was deployed for the design & build project in the aim of defining the goals and roles of each contributor, together with the environment and working method. For this project, which was launched in September 2018, BIM was incorporated into traditional building processes to guarantee interoperability and the correct compilation of models for the design consolidation phase. The BIM process was also included in the building phase and to produce digital as-built drawings.
The project is scheduled for completion in March 2020.
