Egis wins a supervision contract for the extension of the Medellin metro maintenance depot

The Medellin metro took delivery of new trains in 2018, in the perspective of stepping up metro services to cater to increasing demand. In parallel, the Medellin metro has launched a major renovation programme which also involves the refurbishment of the existing fleet and an upgrade to the signalling system. To support this fleet expansion, the Medellin metro plans to renovate and extend the current depot.

Egis and its local partner HMV have just signed a 21-month supervision contract for the extension of the depot.

The Medellin Metro Company will be celebrating its 30th anniversary next year, and Egis welcomes the opportunity of supporting it in its development. The Medellin Metro Company is a public body with high integrity which has chosen to single out social development as one of its key values. It has led by example, developing the “Metro Culture” to help Medellin’s inhabitants and citizens adopt the transport system (Metro, cable car, tram), for the benefit of the community.

This contract constitutes a new achievement for Egis in Colombia, following the contract that it won in November for the Bogota tram train.
