New rail project in Colombia

Feasibility studies and design (technical, legal, financial, gender and social equality) of a freight and passenger train between Bogota and Zipaquira

This is a mega project located in Bogotá and close-by northern municipalities (Chia/Cajica/Zipaquira). With an extension of 47.5 km, this project will be the second modern railway system between Bogotá (Capital City) and the Cundinamarca Region, after Egis designed the first tram system in Bogotá Region (Western Regiotram). This project will strongly and positively impact the mobility in Bogotá Region as the population of Zipaquira is spending at least 3 hours daily way and back to Bogotá. This project will reduce the transit time and notably improve the quality of life of the population.

Egis was contracted to develop the feasibility studies and design in April 2020 by FINDETER thanks to our expertise in operation, systems (including rolling stock), infrastructure, integration of railway systems and local context knowledge. To achieve this complex mission Egis will work with professionals from Colombia, Brazil and France.

This project will be achieved in partnership with the International Firm Deloitte for the Financial component and the Colombian Firm Duran & Osorio for the Legal component.

This is the 3rd project in the railway sector in Colombia for Egis, after the works supervision for Medellin Metro (ongoing) and the feasibility studies for the Western Regiotram (ongoing).
