Egis has started the operation and maintenance of this expressway for 7 years, ensuring its long-standing presence of motorway operator in this country.
The MCX, previously called the Daang Hari – SLEX Link Road, is a 4 km long toll road linking South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) to the Daang Hari road (Daang Hari means the road of the king) in the south of Metro Manila.
The project, though rather small with a unique toll barrier with 13 toll lanes, is in fact complex as it involves the seamless interconnection with the SLEX, a very busy expressway deserving all the provinces south of Metro Manila, with daily traffic averaging 240,000 vehicles.
This concession is part of the public private partnership (PPP) programme of the Republic of the Philippines and was the first one to be awarded.
Egis is in charge of the maintenance of this expressway for 7 years together with operation advisory for Ayala Corporation, the oldest conglomerate in the Philippines which won the project as concessionaire in December 2011. Before that, on 28 August 2014 Egis had signed a contract for the turnkey supply and installation of the Fixed Operating Equipment of the road.
