The existing station is being modernised and extended in line with international standards for passengers to expand capacity to handle increased traffic in the station.
The Chatrapati Shivaji Terminus (CST - formerly known as Victoria Terminus Station) in Mumbai is one of the busiest rail stations in India. The redevelopment project extends to the station itself, but also to the rail infrastructure and the land around the station and above the tracks. While preserving and improving CST's historical architecture, the project aims to create new links between the station and its immediate urban environment.
In partnership with the AREP team of architects, Egis is responsible for reconfiguring all the rail rights-of-way to improve train frequency (every three minutes for suburban trains) and to facilitate enhancement by the architectural team.
