How is your company currently contributing to Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 transformation and gigaproject delivery?
The current momentum behind Saudi Arabia’s gigaprojects is truly unprecedented. We are witnessing a transformative phase of development driven by the bold ambition of Vision 2030 and backed by substantial public and private investment. What sets this phase apart is the scale and diversity of the projects being pursued, ranging from tourism and culture to renewable energy, infrastructure, and advanced technology, all with a strong emphasis on sustainability and long-term value creation.
Unlike previous development waves that were largely centred around oil and gas, this phase is marked by an integrated, cross-sectoral approach that encourages innovation, international collaboration, and private sector engagement. It is a holistic transformation that is reshaping not just the physical landscape, but also the economic and social fabric of the kingdom.
Egis, as a global leader in architecture, consulting, construction engineering, operations and maintenance services, is deeply engaged in the delivery of some of the kingdom’s most strategic and large-scale programmes. Our success is built on having the right delivery strategy, a highly capable and committed team, and a strong focus on client engagement and stakeholder alignment.
While challenges are inevitable in projects of this scale, Egis draws upon its deep reservoir of global experience and local insight to navigate them effectively. Our teams are supported by international centres of excellence and specialised expertise across the Group, allowing us to provide innovative solutions and ensure consistent quality. Ultimately, our contribution lies in driving results, enhancing value, and helping our clients realise their long-term vision.
What role does innovation or sustainability play in your approach to these large-scale developments?
Innovation and sustainability are not only priorities but foundational pillars of Saudi Arabia’s gigaprojects. As these developments advance, we are witnessing a decisive move towards smart, integrated urban environments that harness the power of emerging technologies, including AI, IoT, digital twins, and advanced data analytics, to optimise performance, enhance user experience, and enable predictive maintenance.
Sustainability has also evolved from a standalone objective into a core design and operational principle. Our projects are being eco-designed to meet ambitious carbon reduction targets, optimise energy and water usage, preserve biodiversity, and promote circular economy practices.
At Egis, we are proud to be at the forefront of this transformation. We embed sustainability and innovation into every stage of the project lifecycle, from master planning and design to construction and operations, to deliver future-ready infrastructure that supports the kingdom’s Vision 2030 aspirations and sets new benchmarks in responsible development.
Can you highlight one recent milestone or achievement your team is particularly proud of on a Saudi gigaproject?
Recently, Egis was appointed as the Package Administration and Supervision Consultant (PASC) for Phase 1 infrastructure works at the Riyadh Integrated Project, under the direction of the Special Integrated Logistics Zone (SILZ) Company. The site, located near King Khalid International Airport, is intended to serve as a future logistics and transport node, offering integrated multimodal connectivity and regulatory flexibility for global trade partners.
Additionally, interface management across contractors, design consultants, and client stakeholders forms a core part of our mandate, ensuring alignment with the zone’s long-term operational objectives and spatial planning strategies. All components are being delivered with a view toward minimal disruption, sustainability, future scalability, and operational continuity, in a location expected to become a strategic anchor within the kingdom’s growing logistics ecosystem.
Egis also supported the creation of integrated frameworks that bring transparency to schedule adherence, budget compliance, and risk response, with clear lines of escalation and performance accountability. This initiative required careful balancing of strategic intent with implementation complexity, particularly in aligning diverse stakeholders and workflows under a single governance model.
Furthermore, a landmark development for Egis was the recent inauguration of Riyadh Metro, one of the world’s largest automated transit systems, which has transformed urban transport for the kingdom’s capital city and its residents. Egis, as part of the Riyadh Metro Transit Consultants (RMTC) consortium, was responsible for supervising the project management, design, and construction of the project, delivering the network’s Blue, Red, and Orange lines (Lines 1, 2 and 3), on behalf of The Royal Commission for Riyadh City (RCRC).
How are you addressing challenges such as scale, speed of delivery, or workforce integration on site?
One of the primary challenges in delivering gigaprojects lies in managing their immense scale and complexity, while maintaining alignment with strict timelines, budgets, and quality expectations. These projects also demand the seamless integration of advanced technologies, innovative design solutions, and sustainable practices, all within a dynamic regulatory and stakeholder landscape.
Egis addresses these challenges by deploying robust project and programme management methodologies, leveraging cutting-edge digital tools, and drawing on global best practices. We work hand-in-hand with our Saudi architecture company, Omrania, to ensure alignment with national priorities and regional nuances, while promoting knowledge transfer and capacity building. Our integrated approach emphasises proactive risk management, transparent governance, and sustainability at every stage, ensuring we are laying the foundation for resilient, future-ready communities.
What do you believe sets your company apart in helping Saudi Arabia realise the ambitions of its giga-developments?
Saudi Arabia’s gigaprojects are catalysts for profound socio-economic transformation. Beyond the physical infrastructure, they are reshaping the national landscape by generating significant opportunities for talent development. These projects require a highly skilled workforce, which is driving investments in education, vocational training, and upskilling initiatives, ultimately fostering a new generation of Saudi professionals equipped to lead future developments.
Egis is proud to contribute to this transformation by prioritising knowledge transfer, mentoring programmes, and collaborative delivery models that empower local professionals. Across our projects in the kingdom, Egis has launched structured initiatives to support the development of Saudi talent, including on-the-job training, technical mentorship, and active involvement of Saudi nationals in project leadership roles.
We are committed to nurturing local expertise and ensuring that the benefits of these transformative projects are deeply rooted within the kingdom’s workforce and economy. This long-term investment in people supports Vision 2030’s goals of resilience, self-sufficiency, and global leadership.
