Egis and its partner TYLin have been awarded by Tainan City Government for the production of the Basic Design of the very first Monorail line to be delivered in Taiwan.
To solve traffic problems caused by population growth and urban development, the Tainan City Government has implemented the “Tainan Advanced Transportation System Plan" with several monorail lines.
This contract will cover the first stage of the Blue Line which will ultimately run along a circular course of 27.3 km through East, North, West Central, Anping, South and Rende Districts of Tainan.
We will be responsible to deliver the whole system design package.
A monorail offers advantages such as space efficiency, reduced visual impact, and the ability to navigate tighter curves, making it a suitable choice for urban areas with limited space and complex geometries. Additionally, its elevated design reduces noise and vibration, providing a more comfortable and environmentally friendly transit option for passengers.
Egis has significant expertise in the field of monorail systems, offering a wide range of services including feasibility studies, design, project management, construction supervision, and technical support.
Our involvement in numerous monorail projects dates back to the early 20s, starting with the first feasibility studies for a monorail project in Montreal, Canada. Subsequently, we played a key role in the development of Sao Paulo Monorail Lines 15, 16, and 18, and more recently, we have been actively engaged in the Bangkok monorail – Brown and Pink lines.
We firmly believe that monorail systems present a viable solution for several cities, and we are eager to extend our services and expertise to future projects around the world.
