Our Environment teams win the project management and monitoring of the ecological compensation for the Grand Paris Express.
Do not harm biodiversity and the services it provides, an objective of the project
The Grand Paris Express (GPE) network is a programme of automatic metros designed to link the major strategic centres of the Ile-de-France region, while connecting them with the centre of the Paris conurbation.
Comprising various sections (from line 15 to line 18), the entire network totals approximately 200 km of mostly underground track and includes 68 stations and 7 technical centres. By the time all the lines are completed (planned for 2030), the network will link the centres of Greater Paris, the 3 airports and the TGV stations with more than 2 million passengers per day.
Some of the sections are to be put into service as early as 2024 to serve the main Olympic venues for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. This concerns in particular:
line 14 North ;
the joint section of lines 16 and 17 between Saint-Denis Pleyel and Le Bourget RER,
the extension of line 14 South to Orly airport;
line 15 South from Pont de Sèvres to Noisy-Champs;
line 16 between Le Bourget RER and Clichy - Montfermeil.
The other sections will be commissioned between 2027 and 2030.
In addition to these challenges, there are regulatory obligations, in particular the obligation under the environmental code not to harm biodiversity and the services it provides.
Monitoring of ecological compensation on some twenty sites
The general objective of the complete project management service is to implement and monitor the ecological compensation measures to meet the regulatory requirements defined by the Environmental Code.
The service led by CDC Biodiversité and Egis aims to continue a series of contracts or assignments currently underway:
- Ecological monitoring assignments for compensation sites already restored, such as those on line 15 South and line 16, which are currently being monitored by our teams
- Work contracts in progress for line 15 south (development of floating rafts and artificial spawning grounds, development of banks and creation of helophyte beaches, for which the contractor is Aquasylva)
- Work contracts in progress for lines 15 east, 17 north and 18, and in particular the sites under construction: Noisiel, Polytechnique and Port aux Cerises led by CDC Biodiversité.
- The works contract for line 16 at Bois Madame.
The project management team is responsible for monitoring just under twenty compensation sites, the state of progress of which is very varied (some measures have yet to be identified, while others are in the post-restoration monitoring phase).
