Egis, together with Deligeo, a french software editor, is supporting the SMTC-AC, transport authority of Clermont-Ferrand, for its urban transport network asset management.
Project focus
The greater Clermont-Ferrand currently has a diversified asset portfolio : 17 km of tramway on tyres, 30 trains, 200 buses, self-service bicycles, two depots, administrative buildings, engineering structures... It is responsible for the management, upkeep and maintenance of these assets, either directly or through the T2C public entity in charge of operation and maintenance.
With a tramway operating since 2006, and a major project underway for two BRT lines (the "Inspire" project), the SMTC-AC must now face major investment needs, both to develop its network and to guarantee the sustainability and maintain in operational conditions the existing assets.
In this context, in order to have a better knowledge of its assets, the SMTC-AC launched at the end of 2022 a consultation for an assistance mission with the objective of creating an asset management system for all of its transport-related assets.
Egis'scope and team
The consortium formed by Egis and deligeo was awarded the contract in February 2023.
Over a period of 4 to 8 years, our consortium will assist SMTC-AC in managing all the issues of an asset owner, from the inventory of its assets to the preparation of the Asset Investment Plan and the heavy Maintenance and Renewal Programmes.
The missions carried out under this contract may be particularly varied:
- implementation of the asset management approach
(decision support framework, process, definition of responsibilities) - inventory of assets and documentation
- carrying out technical diagnostics and audits
- multi-year planning of operations and corresponding budgets, assistance with prioritization
Depending on the issues identified, staff from different Egis Business Lines will be involved in order to meet SMTC-AC's expectations. These interventions will be coordinated and piloted by asset management project managers.
To ensure permanence of the service we will deliver to the SMTC-AC, the tcoTrees software, published by deligeo, will be used. tcoTrees is a well used tool on French tranporation network, already used by Egis that meets asset managers, by enabling the total cost of ownership of assets to be projected: maintenance costs, but also renewal costs.
With this contract, Egis has strengthened its position with its long-standing clients in terms of asset management issues. This success is the result of several years of technical development and commercial action by Egis to develop asset management support missions for French Mobility Organising Authorities (AOM).
