Egis, a global leader in architecture, consulting, construction engineering, and mobility services, has been appointed by Helping Hand, a Hong Kong charity dedicated to the housing, care, and welfare needs of the elderly, to provide multidisciplinary consulting services for a new government-funded Residential Care Home in Sai Kung, Hong Kong.
The signing ceremony took place at the historic Old British Military Hospital, now Helping Hand's head office, marking a significant step in expanding elderly care capacity in the region.
Set to open in 2028, the new care home will provide hundreds of beds, delivering 24/7 care to Hong Kong’s elderly population. In addition to essential care services, the home will include rehabilitation and social amenities, with a strong emphasis on sustainable development.
Led by Archiplus International Limited, the project team will leverage Egis’ expertise in Building Services, Environmental, and Sustainability consultancy. This integrated approach aims to create a high-quality, people-centric care home that combines modern clinical capabilities with community wellness amenities.
To ensure efficient and cost-effective delivery, the team will employ advanced Modular Integrated Construction (MiC) and Modular Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MiMEP) technologies, setting a new benchmark for innovative construction in Hong Kong. This facility will play a crucial role in addressing the needs of Hong Kong’s ageing population and strengthening care infrastructure in the Greater Bay Area (GBA) of China.
Helping Hand, established in 1978, focuses on the housing, care, and welfare of the elderly. This new care home is funded by the Hong Kong Social Welfare Department as part of broader efforts to enhance elderly care capacity, emphasising sustainable design and community resilience.
Egis remains committed to supporting socially impactful projects that advance sustainability and community well-being. This collaboration with Helping Hand reflects Egis’ dedication to corporate social responsibility and its mission to create a positive societal impact.
