Egis has been appointed to lead the Wānaka Airport Future Review.
Egis is a leading global architectural, consulting, construction engineering, operations and mobility services firm. With a global portfolio managing over 20 airports and a strong New Zealand-based advisory team, Egis brings proven expertise in aviation infrastructure, operational planning, and stakeholder/community engagement.
The Wānaka Airport Future Review will provide scenarios to guide future development, investment, and economic growth. At the core of Egis’ approach is a strong focus on community and stakeholder engagement to ensure the plan reflects local and regional priorities, and long-term commercial sustainability.
Kerr Forbes, Executive - Aviation at Egis in ANZ, said: “Wānaka Airport is a critical economic and infrastructure asset for the region — supporting more than 11 businesses and approximately 250 jobs. It plays a central role in connecting Wānaka in the South Island to the rest of New Zealand and the world. We are proud to bring our global aviation expertise and local insight to shape the airport’s future in close partnership with the community."
The initial programme and approach will be formally presented to the Queenstown Lakes District Council (QLDC) and the Wānaka-Upper Clutha Community Board this month.
