Egis was recognized by the Association of Consulting Engineering Companies-Ontario with a 2025 Ontario Engineering Project Award for Revitalizing Heritage Infrastructure: Preserving the Touchette Bridge's 70-Year Legacy project.
The Touchette Bridge rehabilitation revitalized a 74-year-old lifeline for the farming community near Casselman, Ontario, preserving its historic significance while ensuring long-term functionality. As a vital link for farmers, its deterioration threatened agricultural operations, with the nearest alternative crossing 25km away. Egis addressed these challenges with a community-focused approach, consulting closely with farmers, adapting the design to increase the bridge’s width for modern agricultural equipment. They developed a durable yet affordable solution to restore load capacity and secure the bridge’s long-term functionality within financial constraints. The rehabilitation of the bridge stands as a testament to innovative thinking and adaptive design.
The annual Ontario Engineering Project Awards celebrate excellence within the consulting engineering profession, determined by a jury of independent industry professionals.
