Egis, in partnership with the French Polynesian Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Services and Trades (CCISM), is strengthening its presence in French Polynesia.
Jordy Chan, minister for major works, public works and air, land and sea transport of French Polynesia, has appointed the Egis-CCISM consortium to operate and manage the airports of Bora Bora, Raiatea and Rangiroa. The award falls under a seven-year public service delegation contract, which will begin on 1st July, 2025. The Council of Ministers approved the decision on 8th March, 2025.
Egis has been active in French Polynesia since 2010 and continues to grow its activities in the airport sector – an industry crucial to both tourism and regional development. For its part, the CCISM brings deep knowledge of the local economic landscape.
A strong local presence backed by an ambitious terminal modernisation programme
In 2024, the airports of Bora Bora, Raiatea and Rangiroa welcomed a total of 820,000 passengers. With the establishment of a new independent company dedicated exclusively to the management of the three airports, the consortium is affirming its long-term commitment to the region.
Recognising the pivotal role airports play in driving economic growth and improving regional connectivity, the group has unveiled major renovation and expansion plans for the terminals. The project is designed to significantly enhance service quality and reimagine the passenger experience. It will serve both tourists and local residents – who represent a large share of airport users – by placing them at the heart of the infrastructure and services, while also celebrating the distinctive identity of each island.
The total investment is estimated at 1.5 billion Pacific francs (approximately €12.5 million), with 500 million Pacific francs (around €4.2 million) funded by the new operating company.
Strong commitment to sustainability
The group is deeply committed to sustainable development and is aiming to achieve ACA1 Level 4 certification by the end of the contract. The environmental action plan includes the installation of photovoltaic panels and support for the growth of the Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAF) sector. Egis brings proven expertise in this area, drawing on its experience operating a network of 20 airports worldwide.
Frédéric Mor, Egis operations and maintenance director for France and the French Overseas Territories said: "Our consortium combines solid knowledge of the region and its challenges with recognised expertise in international airport facilities.”
Kelly Asin-Moux, president of CCISM added: "Our ambition is to transform the airports of Bora Bora, Raiatea and Rangiroa into a hub that supports and reflects the region and its development for the benefit of the population".
