To help achieve global carbon neutrality, Egis has committed under the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) to set greenhouse gas (GHG) emission reduction targets and a short and long-term decarbonisation trajectory in line with the ambitions of the Paris Agreement and the 1.5°C global goal.
The latest IPCC reports leave no doubt: achieving the goals of the Paris Agreement and limiting global warming to 1.5°C requires rapid and significant reductions in GHG emissions, in particular a halving of global emissions by 2030 and a 'net zero' reduction by 2050.
On 30 November 2023, Egis joined the "Race To Zero" campaign following its commitment under the Science Based Targets (SBTi) initiative, recognising the shared responsibility of companies in tackling climate change. Within this framework, the Group will finalize by mid-2024 its emission reduction targets for the next 10 years and adopt a decarbonization trajectory by 2050, consistent with limiting global warming to 1.5°C.
These targets and trajectory will materialize Egis' contribution to achieving global carbon neutrality by 2050. In accordance with the SBTi requirements, our teams have 24 months to develop these targets and trajectory and have them validated by the SBTi.
Meanwhile, Egis will continue its work supporting its clients and local authorities in their own decarbonization efforts. Our main leverage for decarbonization comes from all the projects designed and delivered by the Group.
