Egis, a global leader in architecture, consulting, construction engineering, operations and maintenance services, announced its first Middle East Sustainability Report setting out its commitment to delivering concrete ESG advances and regional leadership on sustainable infrastructure. The report profiles Egis’ work in eight countries within the region, which include the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain, Oman, Kuwait, Jordan and Egypt, and details its performance for 2024.
This publication is an important milestone in Egis’ regional sustainability journey and part of the Group’s global “Impact the Future” strategy, internal roadmap to sustainable development, and Science Based Targets (SBTi)-approved trajectory to reach net-zero emissions by 2050.
Egis in the Middle East has recorded important results that show how the Group’s sustainability transformation is accelerating, as revealed by the report:
- 100% of regional revenues Greenhouse Gases (GHGs) accounted for across all operations covered.
- 43% of turnover comes from projects related to the environmental and energy transition.
- 475 employees have been trained in Eco-design, contributing to its objective of 100% eco-designed projects, where possible, by 2030.
- All operations and maintenance activities are 100% ISO-14001 certified.
- 17% women in the workforce and 78 nationalities, further reflecting Egis' diverse and inclusive talent culture.
Climate Action and Eco-Design
Egis’ science-based decarbonisation targets, which the SBTi approved in late 2024, include cutting absolute Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 54.6% across its entire operations by 2033 and becoming net-zero by 2050.
Egis believes that accelerating sustainability is critical for long-term business resilience and growth. To drive this transformation, the company has built a dedicated Sustainability and Environment team of more than 55 professionals across the Middle East. These experts integrate low-carbon design, renewable energy solutions, sustainable mobility, and circular economy practices into every project, helping clients achieve their climate ambitions while meeting evolving regulatory and investor expectations. At the same time, Egis continues to decarbonize its own operations to lead by example. In a region increasingly exposed to rising temperatures, water scarcity, and biodiversity risks, Egis’ approach strengthens climate resilience, optimizes resource efficiency, and delivers lasting value through compliance, performance, and innovation.
