Created in 2010 in partnership with Edmond de Rothschild Private Equity, Ginkgo Fund has become a leading investment franchise dedicated to sustainable urban regeneration in Europe. Brownfield sites regeneration has the potential to improve urban quality of life, enhance climate resilience and promote biodiversity.
The proposed activities will be undertaken at Ginkgo’s sites that will be located in France, Italy, Portugal and the Netherlands.
The main focus of this assignment will be on advising the Fund in the development of resilient neighbourhoods embedding nature nature-based solutions (NbS) and suggesting biophilic NbS design. NbS will be integrated with the objective of strengthening the resilience to climate change impacts, to promote biodiversity and to maximise the quality of life of the new neighbourhoods. The practical design advice shall be based on an integrated approach which embeds NbS and creates linkages with other green areas (biodiversity promoting green corridors).
To develop and integrate state of the art NbS into 5 sites, the scope of work includes 4 components:
- Component 1: Climate risk and biodiversity assessment
- Component 2: Development of a functional preliminary NBS design
- Component 3: Development of an impact measure system
- Component 4: Development of a knowledge sharing package
This 2 years Technical Assistance (TA) operation is funded under the Support Facility of the Natural Capital Finance Facility of the European Investment Bank and the European Commission.
