Having operated the motorway since its commissioning in 2010, Egis secures an additional 13 years of activity following two previous six-year renewals. The concessionaire’s decision reflects the quality of service delivered, the actions undertaken, and the strong partnership built over the years.
Renewed trust
Egis is pleased to announce the renewal of its operations contract for Hungary’s M6 motorway. Signed on August 26, 2025, this renewal marks a new chapter in the company’s successful collaboration with M6 Tolna Autópálya Koncesszios Zrt. The project was originally designed to include two operational periods, not just one. Egis is proud of its ability to maintain its position and presence in a competitive environment.
A unique model
The M6 motorway stretches 65 km (2x2 lanes) between Dunaujvaros and Szekszard, south of Budapest. It features 8 interchanges, 58 bridges (including 6 viaducts), 2 rest areas, and a maintenance center.
Egis contributed to the financing of the motorway’s construction from 2008 to 2010 and is a minority shareholder in the concession company M6 Tolna Autópálya Koncesszios Zrt, alongside majority shareholder Aberdeen and the European Investment Bank.
Egis is the majority shareholder of the operations and maintenance company M6 Tolna üzemeltető Kft.
This success also confirms the relevance of Egis’ unique model, which brings together engineering and operations within a single group.
