Egis in Ireland has been appointed to a consultant framework for a programme aimed at assessing and auditing the energy requirements of schools across Ireland. This groundbreaking programme, funded by the REPowerEU initiative, will gather essential data nationwide to facilitate energy efficiency improvements at a sector level.
Project overview
The REPowerEU project in its entirety encompasses a comprehensive energy inventory of up to 3,461 schools located within 21 counties in Ireland. It's back to school for the Irish energy team as work starts on 200 schools immediately.
Key objectives
The Programme's goal is to collect detailed energy-related data from each school - approximately 160 pieces of identified dat will be gathered including:
- High-level building areas
- Types and condition of different fabric elements
- Information about lighting, heating, and domestic hot water systems
This data will be collected on tablet on-site and subsequently integrated into the Irish Department of Education's Geographical Information System (GIS).
Strategic impact
Upon completion, the project will enable the Department of Education to dynamically review and interrogate data on all 3,461 schools. This strategic capability will allow for a comprehensive national energy and condition profile of the school estate, providing the Department with a robust foundational dataset to assess the impact of various energy improvement measures.
A step towards a sustainable future
Egis is excited to contribute to this transformative initiative, which promises to pave the way for a more energy-efficient future for Irish schools. By leveraging advanced data collection and analysis techniques, this project will support the implementation of effective energy improvement measures, ultimately fostering a sustainable educational environment.
