The Seine-Nord Europe Canal project, led by Egis as the main contractor, was recognised at the Going Digital Awards 2025 organised by Bentley Systems as part of the international Year in Infrastructure event, held this year in Amsterdam. Selected from more than 3,000 projects in the Project Delivery category, Egis won an award in the Project Delivery category.
This large-scale project, led by the Société du Canal Seine-Nord Europe, the project owner, embodies a collective ambition for sustainable mobility and ecological transition. Thanks to this committed project owner, this large-gauge canal, 107 kilometres long and 54 metres wide, will cross 64 municipalities in the Hauts-de-France region. It will enable the annual transport of 17 million tonnes of goods, helping to relieve congestion on the road network and save more than 50 million tonnes of carbon over 40 years.
An innovative collaborative and digital approach
To meet the technical and coordination challenges of such a project, Egis has implemented a shared data environment based on ProjectWise, integrating a collaborative 3D BIM model. This model, used by 370 employees and representing 1.2 terabytes of data, enables real-time visualisation, better coordination between teams, a reduction in rework and improved decision-making.
The benefits are significant:
• More than 60% reduction in model generation time
• More than 40% increase in overall productivity
• Creation of a verification model for sustainable management of canal assets
International recognition
This award highlights Egis' expertise in complex project management and its commitment to innovation and ecological transition.
