Fusion energy: Egis secures a strategic contract for IFMIF-DONES in Spain
Egis, in partnership with Typsa, has been awarded a framework contract for the design review and construction management of the buildings and site infrastructure for the IFMIF-DONES facility, currently under development in Granada.
Launched in 2023, this major program aims to test and qualify the materials required for the construction of future fusion reactors as part of the European Union roadmap, an essential step toward delivering sustainable, low-carbon energy.
Egis mobilises its multidisciplinary expertise for a flagship fusion project
The scope of the contract covers the design review and construction management of the buildings and site infrastructure for the IFMIF-DONES facility.
Located in Escúzar, in the province of Granada, the project is co-financed by the European Union through Fusion for Energy (F4E), RBI (Croatia), QST (Japan), INFN (Italy) alongside Spain and the Andalusian regional government. It is considered a strategic initiative in the field of scientific research and forms part of the European roadmap for fusion energy.
A long-standing contribution to the European fusion roadmap
Egis is a key player of ITER project, acting as Architect Engineer for all the buildings and site infrastructure. Over the last 15 years, we have delivered multidisciplinary advanced engineering and project management expertise for the construction of all site facilities including the tokamak complex.
This new contract further strengthens Egis’s position as a global leader in fusion infrastructure engineering and supports the development of fusion energy in Europe and globally, in line with the strategies of F4E and ITER Organization.
