The World Bank awarded Egis a comprehensive assignment to enhance Disaster Risk Management (DRM) for the future line 5 of the metro network of Hanoi in Vietnam.
Egis is entrusted by the World Bank to develop the enhancement of DRM for the Hanoi’s People Committee. The metro line 5 currently being under studies, our assignment aims at consolidating the best practices in resilient design to allow for a more sustainable and robust system.
The study will combine extensive expertise in different fields of engineering, tapped from versatile Egis teams: evaluating risks and vulnerability of the future metro line, metro sub-components design principles for better resilience, conceptualization of resilient TOD and important knowledge transfer – within fifteen months. With surveys, analyses and evaluations, benchmarking and the preparation of new and adapted standards, the overarching goal is to sensitize stakeholders and project owners of the future metro line to natural risks, as well as provide the first design concepts to make it more resilient against threats that are specific to Hanoi.
Seasoned experts from both Europe and South-east Asia will be mobilized to address all features of a demanding assignment. Additional experience in DRM from Japan will be tapped as well, for a truly international sustainable project in the challenging context of COVID19 pandemic.
This is the 2nd assignment the rail experts of Egis are entrusted with by the World Bank in Hanoi, Vietnam. And after the completion of a comprehensive NOCC study for Hanoi metro and bus lines in 2020, this new success is a strong statement on Egis relevance to successfully deliver urban transit and railway engineering services across South-East Asia.
