Indec, part of Egis Group, is proud to continually contribute to the $986 million X’Trapolis project for a better public transport network and more reliable journeys in VIC, Australia.
Designed and manufactured predominantly in Victoria, the 25 new X’Trapolis 2.0 trains will gradually replace the Comeng fleet – the longest-running trains on the metropolitan network. The modern, comfortable and safe new trains, expected to enter revenue service in 2024, will be able to operate across the Melbourne
network without the need for infrastructure upgrades.
Led by Rail Director Paul Bennett at Indec, part of Egis group, our skilled rollingstock and depot engineering consultants will support the Department of Transport in the technical management of the supply contract and the upgrade of the Craigieburn depot for the new six-car train sets.
Since 2014, Indec has been providing the required level of service and support in the specialist technical areas for the HCMT project to support the State’s decision-making. Our intimate knowledge of the technical PPP contract documentation provided a seamless transition from the pre-contract phase of the project to the post-contract delivery phase.
For the X’Trapolis 2.0 EMU Preliminary Design Project, Indec’s team provided a wide range of specialist technical advisory services from early feasibility study, reference designs and procurement management, through manufacturing to testing and commissioning between 2019 and 2021.
Detailed design work is currently underway with the manufacturing of the X’Trapolis 2.0 trains to begin in late 2022.
