Creating a benchmark project for construction
Our team has been involved with the Aura project from the early masterplanning phase of the development. Our involvement has included the preparation of concept design packages and associated reports, cost estimates and infrastructure staging investigations, development approval reporting, construction-based environmental management plans, detailed civil works designs, approvals management and construction phase services.
Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team, Egis’ objective in our role for the delivery of Aura was to establish a collaborative approach across all team members. Key to delivering on this objective was to establish trusting relationships and providing constant consistent communication across all communication avenues. Egis has been instrumental in the project’s success, our hand-picked team providing a unique skillset capable of fostering leadership and collaboration.
Our team played a key role in the development and negotiation of alternate trunk sewer and water strategies enabling significant deferral of costs. Key major works include:
- Bulk earthworks strategy for 1,800Ha site including optimisation resulting in a reduction of 4,000,000 m3 of earthworks
- Development of alternate infrastructure sequencing to defer upfront works and costs
- Drainage strategies to enable increased developable area
A significant risk for the Aura development is approval compliance. As the development is taking place in a Priority Development Area (PDA), Stockland has negotiated and committed to deliver key council, state and utility infrastructure upon specific development horizons. Having a thorough understanding of these commitments from previous works on the site, Egis had cemented solid relationships with key personnel and developed a thorough understanding of the processes and requirements including coordination, certification and compliance. This knowledge streamlined approvals and plan sealing milestones with favourable outcomes, reducing project risks, time and costs to Stockland.
