Capital Line LRT South Extension

One of the biggest challenges is to incorporate new technologies within existing systems and ensure their correct integration.

In addition, the city can experience temperatures as low as -40 degrees and constant snowfall, which produces a challenge to design and provide a reliable and efficient public transportation system that can handle the extreme conditions.

Egis will provide its partner, Associated Engineering, and the end client, the city of Edmonton, with its full range of expertise in light rail projects that it has acquired over more than 30 years.

Our team, as part of the Owner’s Engineer team, will oversee railway systems, operations and maintenance, as well as supporting the procurement of new LRVs to support the extension.

As a subcontractor to Associated Engineering (the Owner’s Engineer lead), Egis’ team is responsible for LRT systems engineering consultancy services, in preparation for Design-Build delivery, for the South extension of the Capital Line.

Egis in Edmonton is comprised of a multidisciplinary group of specialists and professionals that will contribute to satisfy the needs of the project and our client. The team advises the client in the field of railway systems, operation, and maintenance facility, as well as supporting the purchase process of the new LRVs.

Egis contributes to the development of the new 4.5 km LRT infrastructure linking Century Park to Ellerslie Road in the City of Edmonton.

Egis will help the City of Edmonton achieve its goal of investing in the development of its future public transportation network to provide sustainable mobility options for its current and future residents. With the first phase of extension of the Capital Line, the city seeks to serve the growing residential area in the South of the city, bring connection to the future hospital in the zone, and provide a reliable and fast alternative to automobiles. This extension also plans to improve intermodality with the existing bus network and with automobiles using the connection at the “Park and Ride” at Heritage Valley

Improving public transport connectivity and accessibility.

The major result to date is the submission of bidding documents and addenda to the bidding process. Other results include the extension of the original scope of the contract and the confidence of our partners.

Our future objective is support our client in RFI resolution for the bidding process and to support in the review of the proposals.
