At the project's inception, the client faced several challenges and concerns. Environmental considerations were paramount, as the World Cup's shift from summer to winter necessitated adjustments to the stadium's climate control systems to ensure player and spectator comfort amidst Qatar's extreme temperatures. Additionally, the client emphasized the need for sustainable construction practices, including the use of locally sourced and recycled materials, efficient water and energy systems, and maintaining high indoor air quality standards. These requirements demanded innovative solutions to create a venue that was both functional and environmentally responsible, ensuring its legacy beyond the tournament.
