Our team’s response to that required the development of innovative solutions to a whole range of challenges including stormwater management, water sensitive urban design, fish passage, road configuration and trunk infrastructure delivery. Many of these solutions challenged the accepted status quo at the time and have since been adopted as industry standard.

Harmony has achieved ‘Six Leaf’ national EnviroDevelopment certification in master planned communities from the Urban Development Institute of Australia. Meeting the six leaf criteria is critical to creating sustainable communities that will benefit the environment long term.

To obtain six leaf accreditation the master plan allowed for 70% of lots orientated to maximise solar amenity, 130 hectares of open space, innovative water sensitive urban design principles, waterways to suit natural design and conservation of fish passage and infrastructure design to maximise capacity and service potential

A key feature of Harmony is the integration of park and open spaces within the masterplan which provides an enhancement to the urban form. These open spaces have been carefully planned and coordinated to be integral in overcoming engineering complexities such as dealing with stormwater management. Our unique approach effectively transformed what is normally considered a constraint into an asset adding form and character to the development.

Egis have been assisting AVID in realising the vision for Harmony for more than 10 years. In our role as lead consultant and civil engineer we have been integral in the completion of the master planning, negotiation of infrastructure agreements and delivery of the detailed design and construction stage services. Bringing a complex structure plan to reality requires a high level of innovation and creativity. Working through a collaborative partnership with the Harmony consultant team, Egis was able to identify synergies, understand competing constraints and workshop holistic solutions that enabled detailed resolution of the masterplan while retaining flexibility needed for delivery over the project lifetime

Harmony is one of Australia’s fastest selling masterplanned communities and was recognised by the UDIA at both State (2022) and National (2023) level as ‘Best Masterplanned Community’ and ‘Project of the Year’. The quality of delivery and visual outcomes achieved through the Egis team’s involvement as part of the wider project team are widely recognised and benchmarked as aspirational, and have resulted in significant benefits to sales rates within the development. Prices of land sales within the development consistently attract a premium on comparable market offerings.
