Driven by an overarching ambition, Longchamp racecourse, today rechristened ParisLongchamp, wished to recover its preeminent role in Parisian cultural and sporting heritage, by offering the French horseracing world a modern and functional racecourse in step with the expectations of professionals, owners and the public.
Increase the site’s attendance and activity
The primary goal was to improve the quality of visiting conditions for the public in order that they could experience an open, comfortable and connected racecourse, and benefit on every floor from a 360° view of the spectacle happening place on the track, but also of Paris, the Seine and the Bois de Boulogne.
Legal and environmental constraints
Owners of very large projects are often required to address a range of legal and environmental constraints. Situated on a listed heritage site, ParisLongchamp proved to be no exception to the rule. Requiring several administrative authorisations relating to the Building and Environment codes, the racecourse refurbishment was the subject of many discussions lasting ten years with Paris City Hall the heritage site inspector and the Bâtiments de France architect.
A multiplicity of contributors
Our client France Galop, a not-for-profit organisation which runs five racecourses and three training centres, brings together a range of different profiles with similarly varied interests: owners, trainers, breeders, jockeys and enthusiasts. Success thus necessarily depends on listening to the needs of all stakeholders.
