A solution is needed to ensure cost efficiency and future maintenance benefits
‘The Village’ development is a recently rezoned residential and mixed-use development located approximately 45 mins southwest of Sydney. The overall site faced many servicing constraints given both the proximity to existing services as well as the existing rail line and creek bisecting the site. To date, Egis has already delivered the full wastewater and potable water servicing strategy as well as the resulting trunk infrastructure, including a sewer pump station and several kilometres of rising main.
Stage 3 had its site constraints as it is separated by a creek tributary from the rest of the site. This meant a conventional crossing would result in a very deep sewer (over 15m deep) through the residential development. This deep sewer would also result in the Sewer Pump Station wet well to be a depth of over 18m.
An alternative solution was required to shallow up the main, which would translate to cost and future maintenance benefits to both Sydney Water and the developer.
